What Have You Done for You, Today?
As a busy mother, I am more than aware of the fact that often our excess weight comes from simply not taking care of ourselves. We tend to eat whatever the kids are having rather than taking a couple of extra minutes to grill a chicken breast or chop some lettuce for a salad. Never mind the fact that the mac ‘n cheese and chicken nuggets have a lot of extra calories that we just don’t need.
We also make the mistake of feeling guilty about taking the time to exercise. Time we could be spending with our children instead. It is important to realize that everything we do is teaching our children something. If we don’t take the time out to do things for ourselves, we are not only cheating ourselves; we are cheating our children, as well.
You see, children live what they learn. If you continue to neglect your body, they will grow up and follow in your footsteps. If you don’t feel that you are important, they will grow up feeling that they aren’t important, either. Your family deserves a happy, healthy mom and you deserve a happy, healthy you–so do something for YOU each day. Hop on the treadmill or elipital for 30 minutes, make that salad and grill that chicken breast. In the end, everyone wins cause “when momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”.
